Forest School is for children 3-5 years old.

• All Forest Teachers at Pinewood Trails Forest School are licensed Michigan educators, certified in CPR/First Aid/AED by the American Red Cross, hold a valid Forest Teacher certification, and participate in year-round professional development for environmental and outdoor education.

• Pinewood Trails Forest School is licensed as a children’s day camp program through Michigan’s Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential. (MiLEAP)

• At this time, enrolled children must be potty-trained. Staff will happily assist in teaching children how to be independent with buttons, snaps, and handwashing.

• At Pinewood Trails Forest School we use many best-practice curricula and resources, such as:

  • Michigan’s Early Childhood Standards of Quality (Birth-Kindergarten)

  • Project Learning Tree, Project Wet, and Project Wild (award-winning PreK-12th grade environmental education programs)

  • Michigan Field Guides

  • 1000 Hours Outside

  • Resources from the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE)

  • Resources from the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE)
